The Labor Law and occupational health and safety regulations and instructions require employers to provide the necessary precautions and measures to create a healthy environment at work sites, to protect workers and the workplace from health hazards and work-related injuries, and to establish instructions and regulations that specify the working conditions for these precautions and measures.
Vaccination is one of the obligations of employers and workers regarding occupational health and safety measures in the workplace. It is a key requirement for protecting everyone in the workplace, including the workers themselves and citizens who benefit from the services and products of the institution they work for, as failure to comply with these obligations would expose them to the risk of infection.
Jordanian legislation in the field of occupational safety and health has organized special rules for protection against infectious and contagious diseases even before the emergence of Corona. Since Corona is a contagious virus that, like other contagious diseases, requires preventive measures for employers and workers to take under penalty of punishment in the event of failure to do so, the approach adopted by Circular No. 35, including what is stated in Clause (First), is consistent with the legal rules in this regard as well as with international standards for the protection of workers and workplaces.
