I heard many reactions, most of them not positive, to the Social Security Corporation’s initiative to provide an advance in the form of a shopping voucher (coupon) worth (100) dinars to those who wish from Social Security retirees, conditional on purchasing from the Military Consumer Corporation’s markets, for one time, and in one payment, meaning that the retiree must spend the value of the coupon during one shopping visit..!

Many retirees have protested and even rejected this approach, including the coupon method, the way it is used, and the way it is restricted to the Military Consumer Corporation. This is despite the fact that the Social Security Corporation aims to use this initiative to help them meet their families' needs during the holy month. Perhaps restricting purchases to the Military Consumer Corporation's markets alone and spending the coupon value in one go is one of the most important reasons that prompted many to reject the initiative, or at least protest it. This is despite the fact that cooperation with the Military Consumer Corporation is important, given the spread of its markets throughout the Kingdom. Not all Social Security retirees live in Amman, Zarqa, or Irbid, where malls are available. However, military consumer markets are widespread even in peripheral areas and close to remote areas.

Here, I present an alternative idea to the one proposed by the Social Security Corporation, one that may be accepted by various parties. It stems from the pensioner's right to be treated equally by his or her institution, or at least to be treated equally by others who have benefited from generous advances over the past two years from insured persons and subscribers at the expense of their future insurance rights.

The idea of the initiative that I am presenting is as follows:

1- The advance shall include every social security retiree whose retirement salary is less than (1000) dinars.

2- The value of the advance must be equal to the amount of the retirement salary, but with a ceiling of (500) dinars, and a minimum of (200) dinars.

3- The advance amount shall be divided into two parts: The first part shall include four shopping coupons from the Military Consumer Corporation's markets, each worth 25 dinars, valid for use for three months. The remaining second part of the advance shall be transferred in cash to the retiree's bank account.

4- The Military Consumer Corporation shall grant a special discount to coupon holders of Social Security retirees of (10%) on their purchases of food items through these coupons.

5- The advance shall be paid in installments over (24) months without any interest being charged on the amount (a good advance “loan”).
