The Senate Labor and Social Development Committee, chaired by Senator Issa Murad, held a special session at the invitation of Dr. Hamada Abu Nijmeh, Director of the Jordanian Center for Labor Rights (JCLR), to review and discuss the center's 2024 annual report on labor market conditions and workers' rights in the Kingdom.

The session, attended by a number of Their Excellencies and Highnesses, members of the committee, featured a comprehensive presentation of the report's themes, findings, and recommendations. It also included an in-depth discussion on the most prominent challenges facing the Jordanian labor market and the opportunities available for policy reform and enhancing compliance with international standards and principles of social justice.

The presentation, delivered by the Center's Director, focused on a number of key issues, most notably the status of employment and unemployment, working conditions and circumstances, social protection, trade union organization, and indicators of economic participation. The presentation also examined the extent to which these themes align with the priorities of the Economic Modernization Vision and the government's plans to stimulate growth and stability.

At the conclusion of the session, the Committee commended the efforts of the Jordanian Center for Labor Rights in supporting national dialogue on labor issues and workers' rights, and expressed its appreciation for its role in providing an independent research and analytical reference that contributes to the development of public policies.

The committee also decided to adopt the report's main recommendation, which calls for the adoption of an integrated national employment policy aimed at enhancing economic participation, stimulating growth, and achieving higher levels of economic and social stability.
